IT consulting & engineering
Fractional CIO/CTO advice and hands-on engineering for businesses that have no internal IT department — or one stretched far too thin. Scoped in plain English, priced from a published rate card, and delivered when it will not cost you a day's trading.
What we do
The same person scopes the work, does the work and documents the work. Nothing gets handed down to someone learning on your environment.
Fractional technology leadership for audits, strategy, governance and executive decision support.
Practical help getting AI into the business — where it genuinely pays back, and just as importantly where it does not. A fast-growing part of what we do.
Practical network engineering for smaller businesses — secure, scalable and not over-specified.
Architecture review and genuine restore validation — because an untested backup is a rumour.
Senior after-hours support for macOS and iOS environments, from a small studio to a whole office.
Internet, VPN and hosted phone systems reviewed, selected and configured. We recommend and implement — we never resell.
Ongoing
Weekly, fortnightly or monthly oversight for teams with no dedicated IT staff. Someone competent looks at the environment on a schedule, rather than only after something has already broken.
Also available
We build small business websites designed to be read by Google and quoted by AI assistants, from $440 inc GST. We also take over hosting and maintenance of sites we did not build — including large agency sites — so you have one person responsible for the whole thing.
The delivery model
Replacing a firewall, cutting over a network, migrating a server or rebuilding a backup regime all take systems offline. Doing that at 2pm on a Tuesday costs you a day of trading. Doing it at 7pm costs you nothing.
It is a deliberate model, not a limitation — but it is worth being straight about: if what you actually need is business-hours helpdesk coverage, we are not the right fit, and we will say so in the first conversation.
Planned works are booked into a window you agree in advance, with a rollback position agreed before anything is touched.
Rates & terms
You should never open an invoice and find a number you have not already seen. Both PDFs below are the same documents we work from.
Work after 10:00pm is available at 150% of the standard rate.
Ways to work with us
Something specific needs doing or diagnosing. Charged at the published rates, with an estimate before it starts.
A defined piece of work — an audit, a network rebuild, a phone system rollout — quoted as a fixed scope with agreed change windows.
Regular oversight on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly cadence, with 30-day payment terms available.
Questions
An outsourced or fractional CIO gives you executive-level technology decision-making for the handful of hours a month you actually need it, instead of a six-figure salary. If you are making decisions about security, systems or spend without anyone senior to sanity-check them — or you keep buying technology that does not quite solve the problem — that is the gap it fills.
Remote work is $37.50 ex GST per 15-minute block, with a 15-minute minimum. Onsite is $180.00 ex GST for the first hour, then in 15-minute increments. A $50.00 ex GST call-out fee applies, waived for two or more continuous hours onsite. Work after 10:00pm is charged at 150% of the standard rate.
Because the work that matters most is disruptive. Firewall replacements, network cutovers, server migrations and backup rebuilds all take systems offline. Doing them between 5:30pm and 10:00pm or at weekends means your staff never lose a working day to it. If your main need is business-hours helpdesk coverage, we are honestly not the right fit — and we will tell you so.
No. We recommend, select and configure, and we take no margin on anything we suggest. For hosted phone systems in particular, we compare providers and implement the one that fits — but you buy it directly, so there is no commission shaping the recommendation.
Payment is COD, or 7 days by prior arrangement once there is trading history. 30-day terms are available for ongoing support agreements. Full terms and conditions are downloadable as a PDF from this page.
Yes. Scheduled checks run weekly, fortnightly or monthly and cover backup verification, patching and maintenance checks, and licensing and access reviews. It suits businesses with no dedicated IT staff who want someone competent looking at the environment regularly rather than only when something breaks.
We are based in Engadine and cover the Sutherland Shire, the St George area and greater Sydney for onsite work. Remote engineering and advisory work is delivered anywhere in Australia.
Often, yes. A common engagement is an independent technology audit or second opinion — reviewing what is in place, what it costs and what is genuinely at risk — which sits alongside whoever handles day-to-day support. Because we do not resell, there is no conflict in giving you a straight assessment.

Tell us what you are trying to achieve and what is currently in the way. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to work out whether we are the right fit and what the next step would cost — and there is no tech talk unless you want it.
